Advanced ACL Rehabilitation

The rehab process after an ACL repair (particularly for athletes and more active people) needs to be personalized and progressive from the outset in order to set a strong foundation for the rest of the rehab journey. Many rehab protocols are too conservative when research has shown that a more assertive and function-based rehab program lends to better outcomes and more preparedness when returning to sports.

Our Process

  1. You will undergo a thorough evaluation with our rehab specialists to determine YOUR current status with:

    • Range of Motion

    • Strength

    • Muscle Activation (Gluteals, Quads, Hamstrings, Core)

    • Functional Mobility (Squat, Walk, Jump*, Run*) *dependent on your surgery date and strength/range of motion

  2. After the initial evaluation, your physical therapist will create a customized plan of care to address your deficiencies.  The plan may include hands-on therapy such as joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation, progressive strength building exercises, movement training, gait training, core strengthening, running, and sport-specific exercises.  If you are not running, yet, we will utilize our AlterG Anti-gravity treadmill to re-teach you how to run (when cleared by your MD).

  3. Once you are cleared by the physical therapist to perform more advanced strengthening, you can begin working with our post-rehab team to further prepare your body for a full return to an active life and sports.
